Garmin Quick Release Kit 910XT

Garmin Quick Release Kit 910XT

I've ridden the Cycleops Powercal with a Garmin Edge 500 for the past couple of weeks and, at this point, I'd have to say I am very happy with it. Getting it set up and synced with my Garmin device was remarkably easy and took only minutes. It took longer to reconfigure the "screens" on the Edge to include the new power data.

I'm unable to compare it to the MUCH more expensive PowerTap product line (there are some excellent reviews on the 'net where engineer types compare the PowerCal very favorably with PowerTap and SRM type strain gauge based power meters) but for $100 I believe this to be a solid entry into the art of training with power.

One of the excellent features of the PowerCal is the ability to easily transfer your power workout from one bike to another without having to change wheel s (PowerTap) or cranksets (SRM). All you will need is additional mounting hardware for your Ant+ device - very inexpensive. CycleOps is a trusted name in power training and it really seems they did their homework before launching this product.

Bottom line, if you want to try training with power instead of just HR and you don't want to spend $1000 this is an excellent option.

Please note , I also purchased Hunter Allen and Andrew Coggan's latest edition of Training and Racing with a Power Meter and highly recommend that as an invaluable addition to this purchase.

  1. This is really nice for biking, being able to use have the watch in a position where I can see it without taking my hands off the bars all them time is much more convenient and probably safer. It isn't quite as comfortable to wear while running, but it is such a minor difference that it is definitely worth it if you bike a lot. It is also nice that you can orient the bar mount in either direction, so that they work on both my bar tops on my road bike and my aero bars on my TT bike. I have used it for swimming many times although not open water. When I use it in a triathlon I will either put it under my wet suit or wrap saran wrap around it to prevent any chance of losing it, a few extra seconds in T1 is worth not risking losing the watch.

  2. I've tried this product in a couple of triathlons. It works really well.
I like having my Garmin 910 on the bike handlebars when I riding my bike.

  3. This was very helpful for transitioning between the swim, bike and run... Just don't forget to take it off your bike! :)

  4. Works as advertised. The GPS snaps in snugly with no issues. The strap is somewhat bulky, but it is proportional to the GPS so no big worries there.

Most Convenient

Garmin Approach Watch Preloaded Courses I have a golf GPS that requires me to download the course information before I can play for the first time. That process isn't simple or without problems. This Garmin S1 is the easiest thing to use. You turn it on, tell it you want to play a round of golf (since it comes up in watch mode) and it displays a list of the courses nearby. So if you are at a golf course when you tell it you want to play, you don't have to go searching for the course you want to play, it is already on the top of the list you select from. If there is more than one course nearby, as there is at my golf club, the different courses will be listed for you to choose from with the closest first. Using the S1 during play couldn't be easier either. You don't have to change holes manually, it knows where you are and therefore what hole you are on. You can change the holes manually, but it isn't necessary under most circumstances. I...

Great set of basic features

Garmin 4 3 Inch Portable Navigator Lifetime This was to be my first GPS and I wanted outstanding performance in a 5 inch screen, but didn't want or need anything fancy (like Bluetooth, etc) but did want lifetime maps. The Garmin nuvi 50LM was the perfect choice and I have not been disappointed. It is easy to use, fast and accurate. The screen is bright with excellent contrast. It is 'turn by turn" and specifically mentions the names of the streets. The default voice is strong and easy tonhear/understand. Overall, the Garmin nuvi 50LM is simple, basic and outstanding. I also bought the "beanbag" mount for the top of the dashboard and it is GREAT!! It makes is so easy to remove the GPS from sight when parked or after use, plus move the Garmin nuvi 50LM from vehicle to vehicle. In my opinion, the Garmin 50LM is the best value for money for basic "no frills" automotive GPS. I am very pleased with the Garmin nuvi 50LM and my choice in buyin...
