Great tool for geocaching and even driving!!

Magellan eXplorist 610 Waterproof Hiking OK, got this last week and used it for geocaching this weekend. It works great. It took me a little bit to update to the newest firmware, get the Vantage Point software and figure out the GPX download and import functions but it wasn't too much and reminded me of the first time I sat down with my smartphone. Anything new with such a complexity will have a learning curve. This weekend we continued to use my android based Thunderbolt and we found throughout the day we were getting better and better at using the 610 and we are now able to use it exclusively. We like being able to program waypoints which is a pain with the smartphone. Yes, this is probably more GPS than the normal geocacher will ever need; but, now that our kids are old enough to come along the wife and I are excited to return to the great outdoors and camp, hike, etc like we used to. The biggest complaint most have is the touchscreen. I admit, it took a little bit to ...

Better than expected

Garmin Carrying Approach Oregon Handheld ...Had a Garmin Hard Carrying Case for my Oregon 450t for several years; I'm completely pleased with it. The negative reviews have me puzzled. Perhaps the reviewers want something more compact. I find that the large size provides the kind of protection I wanted, plus it is easier to manipulate in an outdoor setting, especially with gloves on. I have used this product in all kinds of weather, dust, snow, rain and hard-knocks and it works perfectly. I really like the way it can be carabinered to the strap of a backpack so it can be flipped-open, the "on-off" button is easily accessed (another rationale for a large enclosure, by-the-way) and is at the perfect distance from my eyes for easy reading. This set-up is so good I would urge anyone using a pack that lacks an attachment on the shoulder strap to sew-on a d-ring to the packstrap on your "handed" side (right strap if you are right-handed, etc.) When hikin...

Great Golf Assistant

Garmin Approach Waterproof Touchscreen Golf I did a lot of research before selecting this Garmin G-5. I was particularly concerned that some owners said it was hard to see in the sun, etc. I'm over 70 with mediocre vision and I had no trouble at all. The most you have to do is tilt it a bit one way or the other and it's very easy to see. The thing I liked the best about the G-5 was it's ease of operation. The best single feature, I think, is the ability to measure the drives of all members of your group (assuming you all use the same teebox) with just a couple taps on the screen. All six friends I've played with so far quite enjoyed that. I also liked the "heft" of the unit. It has good weight to it and you can tell tactilely and visually that it's not just a cheap piece of plastic. I also have a good range finder and by using it in conjunction with the G-5 I gained additional help with shots to the green. Because the range finder, of cour...

Garmin's Greatest GPS

Garmin Portable Bluetooth Navigator Lifetime What prompted my purchase of the Garmin Nuvi 2555LMT specifically was one, my familiarity with Garmin, and two, the lifetime map and traffic updates. I have two older Garmin units on which I have not updated the maps for a number of years due to the cost of $80/ year. This unit has easy to navigate screens and provides information which is easy to absorb with a quick glance. The "Lane Navigator" is one of my favorite features. It lets me know if the exit is a right or left exit and how many lanes are used for the exit. The photo realistic view actually looks very similar to the exit lanes themselves! The traffic feature is also a great feature, but has a minor bug or two. I found myself approaching a very recent accident and an alert appeared on the GPS, which I thought was rather impressive. In other cases, the traffic alert has indicated slow traffic ahead, which has typically been the case, but other times has already cl...

X Plane 10 Global Flight Simulator MAC I have been a pilot for over 30 years. I started flying kites when I was 6 then radio controlled planes then I joined the RAF, flew missions over Iraq before moving to commercial airlines where I captain an Airbus A380 so I know a bit about Aircraft. Recently I have discovered that spending the majority of my life in a cockpit isnt enough so I took up flying simulators so I can continue to be in a cockpit even when I home. Having tried a few simulators such as Microsoft s Flight Simulator 1998 and version 4, IFR on the Commodore Vic20 and G-LOC I have settled on what I consider to be the best and most accurately detailed flight model and cockpit ever built. X PLANE 10. X PLANE 10 rewrites the genre of flight simulation, not only does it accurately model 3 Aircraft it uses google maps and secret NASA satellite photos to create the most photo realistic environment ever seen on a simulation. The british meteorological service (the Met) designed ...

Must have for all adventures!

Bushnell Grylls Edition Personal Tracking got this for my father in law for Christmas. he goes hunting a lot, and one of his hunting trip it got dark on him and almost didn't make it back to camp. which would have made his wife happy, but his daughter (my wife) upset. I looked and researched several GPS devices, and picked this one out cause it is very easy to use,you see my father in law is a simpleton but I love the lug, and didn't want him to ever feel the way he did that day. last deer season he pushed the limits of time again and it got dark on him fast, but this device has a back home button that brought him back to camp albeit late and dark, fact is he made it safe and with the help of something I got him, and that's the bear ggrylls personal device. it's the greatest gift a hunter can get, beside a field full of deer. Works on the GPSMAP 62S

Garmin Belt Clip eTrex 10 I just received this from GPS city model # 010-11734-20 The description says its for the etrex 10,20,and 30 but the GPScity web site indicates that it fits the GPSMAP 62 series, which it does. The carabiner clip that comes with the GPSMAP 62 series is nice but having a belt clip is sometimes needed. For instance, when attaching the gps to a backpack strap, its not desirable to have the unit swinging freely. So now I have a variety of attachment methods.. Oh and yes I second the idea that this should be an included accessory along with the carabiner clip. Regardless, I'm happy now and GPS city shipping from them (westcoast) to me (eastcoast) via the $1.99 USPS Standard shipping took all of 2 days. I ordered on 11-7-12 and received on 11-9-12, which is about as good as it gets!! Get your Garmin Belt Clip eTrex 10 Now!

Good to great device for the more serious biker

Garmin Heart Monitor Cadence Sensor This was to be my first GPS and I wanted outstanding performance in a 5 inch screen, but didn't want or need anything fancy (like Bluetooth, etc) but did want lifetime maps. The Garmin nuvi 50LM was the perfect choice and I have not been disappointed. It is easy to use, fast and accurate. The screen is bright with excellent contrast. It is 'turn by turn" and specifically mentions the names of the streets. The default voice is strong and easy tonhear/understand. Overall, the Garmin nuvi 50LM is simple, basic and outstanding. I also bought the "beanbag" mount for the top of the dashboard and it is GREAT!! It makes is so easy to remove the GPS from sight when parked or after use, plus move the Garmin nuvi 50LM from vehicle to vehicle. In my opinion, the Garmin 50LM is the best value for money for basic "no frills" automotive GPS. I am very pleased with the Garmin nuvi 50LM and my choice in buying it. Y...

Buy one!

Garmin Carabiner Colorado Approach Handheld I bought this about a month ago and have found it to be an excellent product. Unlike some of the other reviews for me it starts right up and is ready to do. The first few round that I used it I carried it in my pocket and I found that it took a few seconds to pinpoint the distance when I pulled it out. Since then I have a cradle for it on my push cart and there is no longer a delay in finding the distance to the green. When I was carrying it in my pocket I sometimes forgot that it even there because it is so light. Prior to buying this I had a SkyCaddie SGX and a G4 both very good divises but I was getting tired of the annual membership fees and the limited number of courses that these units could hold and the failure on SkyCaddies part to deliver some of the things that were promised when I bought the SGX when they first came out. Last September I had to replace my SGX for a problem and it cost me $99, then in February after ...

Best ever

It's a nice watch and a great purchase.

Nike SportWatch Powered Included Anthracite Although the Nike Sport watch GPS is an excellent choice for any level of runner, it can also be easily used by walkers, bicyclists, and hikers. The interface is very simple, if not intuitive. The menus are very easy to navigate and contain only useful settings and features. The watch can be set to use GPS, the foot pod, or a combination of the two to measure distance ran. The watch can also be set to timed intervals. The display is large and easy to read, and can be set to standard black characters with white back drop or inverted. The back-light is activated by flicking or tapping the screen, making it easy to light up while running. The display during the run can display two different sets of data at any time with one set able to be switched during the run. The data to that can be displayed includes: Pace, Speed, Distance, Time Elapsed, Average Pace, Calories Burned, and Clock. Distance can be measured in either standard or metric ...

Awesome

Garmin Approach GPS Golf Watch I just got the S3 watch today and I was having problem setting the language to English. I called Garmin support number and the wait was not bad; about 3-5 minutes. The operator was very nice; helping me up to set the language to English. Steps: 1. Press the Power button(top left corner). Choose the top answer -> Kylla 2. It should power down your Garmin S3. 3. Press and hold the score button (bottom right hand corner). 4. While pressing step (3), above - press the power button again. 5. It should reset the language to English. As far as updating maps, I tried to do on my Mac(with Intel). I kept getting Update error (Like the other Amazon review). So I went to my Windows laptop and did this: 1. Open up a Firefox browser. 2. Go to Garmin website and find the update map links. 3. It installs Garmin plug-in on my Firefox browser. 4. I close Firefox and go back to the Garmin page. 5. I get the message that says, my course map is already up to date...

ZAGG invisibleSHIELD Garmin Approach G6 I have owned several different GPS units from various makers; TomTom, Garmin, and now from Magellan. This unit is excellent. While it does not have some of the advanced features of the more expensive units, this unit has everything I need. The Magellan Roadmate finds satalites quickly, is accurate to my real location, and provides clear directions. There are various options for making 'favorites' and various ways to find a location, similar to the other brands and models I have used. The internal speaker volume and sound quality is better than my Garmin. The touch scren use is similar to my Garmin and better than the TomTom unit I used previously. Overall, this GPS unit is on par with the other brands and models I own or have owned. It is easy to use, inexpensive, and fast. Get your ZAGG invisibleSHIELD Garmin Approach G6 Now!

Slimmer than ever

Garmin 5 Inch Portable Vehicle Lifetime I have a golf GPS that requires me to download the course information before I can play for the first time. That process isn't simple or without problems. This Garmin S1 is the easiest thing to use. You turn it on, tell it you want to play a round of golf (since it comes up in watch mode) and it displays a list of the courses nearby. So if you are at a golf course when you tell it you want to play, you don't have to go searching for the course you want to play, it is already on the top of the list you select from. If there is more than one course nearby, as there is at my golf club, the different courses will be listed for you to choose from with the closest first. Using the S1 during play couldn't be easier either. You don't have to change holes manually, it knows where you are and therefore what hole you are on. You can change the holes manually, but it isn't necessary under most circumstances. I...

Garmin 010 11029 02 Charging Data Clip My Garmin Golf GPS watch is wonderful. Works flawlessly. However, the charger was inadvertently broken. :-( I placed an order for this item and asked/paid for Overnight Delivery. I am in Portland, OR and the order was shipping from Seattle, WA. The replacement charger was not delivered the next day as requested. It was delivered the following day instead. It was exactly what I needed and wanted and it works perfectly. I sent an email to Amazon customer service expressing my disappointment that I did not receive it Overnight as paid for. They responded immediately saying they were sorry, it had been processed and shipped correctly (it was) and sometimes there are issues with UPS that they cannot control. However, Amazon then refunded my complete shipping cost! All of it. I was only expecting a refund difference between UPS Overnight and UPS 2nd Day but Amazon stepped up to the plate and refunded the entire amount. Now.....that'...

Fit the bill!

Garmin Approach Waterproof Watch model I absolutely love this watch . I am somewhat of a gadget geek and I have learned over the years that as much as I love the next best gadget, devices that are easiest to use and reliable have the longest longevity. Hence, the popularity of the iPhone. It just works! The same for this watch . I have owned or do own the Sonnocaddie, uPro, and a Laser Rangefinder. I have also used Golfshot GPS for the iPhone (great app by the way) as well as the GolfLogix app (another great app). All of these tools have great features but what I realized after a while of using them was that I simply wanted to just play the game . Nothing worst than spending a minute using your laser to get the yardage to the pin and then shanking your shot off into the woods. Eventually, I would begin using them less and less as the months would go by or simply rely on the Front/Middle/Back yardage only. I was spending too much time using these aids when my time c...

Works with Oregon 450

Garmin 010 11344 10 Silicone case form fitting I just received this and love it already! I bought the Garmin Dakota 20, and it came with the nylon case with clear screen, which is slightly more expensive than this case. I didn't like the nylon one at all. With the clear screen attached to the case, it was difficult to see and use the Dakota's touchscreen. I even tried turning the nylon case around so the screen was on the back, and that didn't quite do the trick either. It was just clunky. I ordered this, and I love it. It slipped right on perfectly and even has the power button outline on it. This may seem like a small thing, but I appreciated it being there because there is no doubt where the power button is. I highly recommend this case for anyone with a Garmin Dakota. As a matter of fact, I think it is a necessity. I geocache, so my GPS assuredly gets bumped around. This case protects it without being bulky. Get your Garmin 010 11344 10 Silicone cas...

Just what I hoped for

Garmin Oregon 550t Tactical Black The Garmin Oregon is a really cool GPS. I downloaded some other maps off of the Internet they worked beautifully on it. Amazing, I have one download that has every structure in my state, (Montana). Additionally, I find the Oregon easy to operate. It has quite a long battery life and I can read it just fine in the middle of a bright sunny day. I hope Garman someday we'll figure out that some of the features are more difficult than they need to be to use. But, that's the case with all of the GPS units I have ever used, this one is one of the best. The camera function is well worth it. I can either go to a waypoint or I can open the photo and press go, just that easy. I've used it while flyfishing to take pictures of my fish, and later I have located that stretch of water on Google earth. The big plus using this Garmin to take pictures of fish is the unit is water proof, nice! Get your Garmin Oregon 550t Tactical Black No...

GolfBuddy

GolfBuddy World GPS Range Finder UPDATE 12/30/2011: Couple more rounds under my belt with the unit and I like it even more. It's plenty accurate enough for my ability to hit a yardage target, and it works even when stuffed in my pocket. Takes a few minutes sometimes to lock onto the GPS satellites from a cold boot, but the thing just works, auto detects the course I'm on, detects when I'm on the green and asks if I want to input the score for the hole, and then auto switches to the next hole as I walk to the next tee box. I think about all that could be done to improve it is make it faster, give it a capacitive (instead of resistive "clicky") screen, and make it cheaper...although at almost $100 less than I paid these days, it's looking better and better. Upping review to 5 stars. ORIGINAL REVIEW: While I think all of these devices are massively overpriced (since you can get faster, larger screen "road" GPS units for about a hundred buc...
